Extending the service life of low-voltage switchgear is of paramount importance for enterprises. This article shares insights from busbar trunking system manufacturers, including conducting regular inspections and cleaning of the interior of low-voltage switchgear, ensuring adequate ventilation, inspecting cables and connection components, and monitoring ambient temperature and humidity. By adhering to these practices, you can enhance the stability and reliability of low-voltage switchgear, reduce maintenance and equipment replacement costs, and ultimately deliver greater value to your organization.
First, understanding the operating principles of low-voltage switchgear is crucial for extending its service life. Low-voltage switchgear is used to control and protect electrical equipment and typically comprises switches, protective devices, instruments, and wiring. Therefore, it is essential to conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of these components.
1. Regular inspection and cleaning of the low-voltage switchgear interior
Dust accumulation and corrosion inside low-voltage switchgear can adversely affect the equipment’s normal operation. Regular inspection and cleaning of the interior of the switchgear are essential steps for extending its service life. Vacuuming or wiping is recommended to ensure that the interior remains dry and clean.
2. Ensure adequate ventilation of the low-voltage switchgear.
Effective heat dissipation inside low-voltage switchgear is critical to ensuring the equipment operates properly. It is essential to maintain adequate ventilation to prevent overheating. Appropriate cooling devices, such as fans and heat sinks, can be employed to enhance the heat-dissipation performance of the low-voltage switchgear.
3. Regularly inspect cables and connection components
Cables and connection components in low-voltage switchgear are critical for current transmission and control. Regularly inspect the contact conditions of cables and connections to ensure they are securely fastened and free from looseness. In addition, verify the insulation performance of the cables; if any signs of aging or wear are detected, replace the cables promptly.
4. Pay attention to the temperature and humidity of the environment surrounding the low-voltage switchgear.
Ambient temperature and humidity also have a significant impact on the normal operation of low-voltage switchgear. Excessively high temperatures can cause equipment overheating, while excessively high humidity can lead to component corrosion. Therefore, it is essential to properly control the temperature and humidity in the vicinity of the low-voltage switchgear and to implement adequate ventilation and moisture-proof measures.
By adhering to the aforementioned guidelines, you can extend the service life of low-voltage switchgear, enhance its operational stability and reliability, and reduce maintenance and replacement costs, thereby positively impacting your enterprise’s production efficiency and economic performance.
In summary, low-voltage switchgear is an indispensable piece of equipment in industrial production, and proper maintenance and upkeep are critical to extending its service life. By conducting regular inspections and cleaning of the internal components, ensuring adequate ventilation, checking cables and connection points, and monitoring ambient temperature and humidity, the service life of low-voltage switchgear can be effectively prolonged, while its operational efficiency and reliability can be enhanced.

Zhenjiang Ximenzi Conducts EHS Professional Knowledge and Internal Trainer Training
On December 12, Zhenjiang Siemens invited a professional instructor from Shanghai Qian’an Environmental Protection Company to deliver EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) expertise training and internal trainer development sessions. More than 20 participants, including heads and supervisors of the Production Department, equipment administrators, and selected frontline employees, attended the training. The curriculum covered mechanical safety safeguards, hazard identification, and risk assessment, with an introduction to practical tools such as energy control and lockout/tagout procedures. During the session, the instructor enhanced trainees’ understanding of how unsafe behaviors lead to accidents by showing short animated videos on behavioral safety. This training marked the first phase of the company’s EHS program; going forward, Zhenjiang Siemens will implement a comprehensive EHS training plan as scheduled to further elevate the company’s EHS management standards.
