Maintenance Methods for Low-Voltage Switchgear

The primary objective of low-voltage switchgear maintenance is to ensure its safe and reliable operation. Low-voltage switchgear should be inspected and maintained annually. Maintenance work should be completed with minimal outage time, which is typically scheduled in advance by the owner.

Low-voltage switchgear Maintenance is primarily aimed at ensuring the safe and normal operation of low-voltage switchgear. Low-voltage switchgear should be inspected and maintained annually. Repairs are carried out with minimal outage time, and the duration of the outage is typically scheduled in advance by the owner.

Contents and procedures for low-voltage switchgear maintenance:

1. Maintenance shall commence on the low-voltage side of the transformer. After de-energizing the low-voltage switchgear, clean dust inside the cabinet, inspect the busbars and down conductors for secure connections, check for overheating or discoloration at connection points, verify that cable terminations and terminal blocks are firmly and reliably secured, examine grounding conductors for corrosion, and ensure that terminal blocks are tightly fastened. All secondary circuit wiring connections must be reliable, and insulation must meet the required standards.

2. When inspecting drawer-type switches, the drawer-type Low-voltage switchgear Insertion and withdrawal shall be smooth and flexible, with reliable mechanical locking. Verify that the operating mechanism of the automatic air switch on the drawer cabinet is fully engaged and that all wiring screws are securely tightened. Clean the contact surfaces of the contactor and remove any dirt or contamination in the surrounding area, then check that the contacts make good electrical contact. If the contactor contacts are poor, lightly file the contact surfaces as necessary. If the contactor contacts are severely eroded (with contact wear down to one-third of their original thickness), the contactor must be replaced. The power meter and indicator shall be in good working condition.

3. When servicing the capacitor cabinet, first switch off the main power supply to the cabinet. Then, using conductors with a cross-sectional area of at least 10 mm², discharge each capacitor individually to ground. Following this, perform a visual inspection to ensure the enclosure is intact and there are no signs of oil leakage. If the capacitor enclosure is found to be swollen, take prompt corrective action by replacing the discharge device, the connection screws in the control circuit, and the grounding system. After switching off the power, proceed with commissioning the indicator section and the automatic compensation section.

4. Low-voltage switchgear Maintenance of circuit breakers in the switchgear and control cabinet: First disconnect all loads, then use the handle to withdraw the circuit breaker from the cabinet. Re-tighten the connecting screws and verify that the blade spring force meets the specified requirements. Inspect the arc-extinguishing grid for cracks or damage, manually operate the mechanical interlock to ensure accurate opening and closing, and check for good contact; if necessary, file down the contact surfaces. Also inspect the internal springs, washers, and screws for looseness, deformation, or detachment.

Zhenjiang Ximenzi Conducts EHS Professional Knowledge and Internal Trainer Training

On December 12, Zhenjiang Siemens invited a professional instructor from Shanghai Qian’an Environmental Protection Company to deliver EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) expertise training and internal trainer development sessions. More than 20 participants, including heads and supervisors of the Production Department, equipment administrators, and selected frontline employees, attended the training. The curriculum covered mechanical safety safeguards, hazard identification, and risk assessment, with an introduction to practical tools such as energy control and lockout/tagout procedures. During the session, the instructor enhanced trainees’ understanding of how unsafe behaviors lead to accidents by showing short animated videos on behavioral safety. This training marked the first phase of the company’s EHS program; going forward, Zhenjiang Siemens will implement a comprehensive EHS training plan as scheduled to further elevate the company’s EHS management standards.
