Busbar Trunking Installation Tips

Installation methods for busbar trunking systems: 1. For horizontal installation, the spacing between adjacent supports shall not exceed 2,500 mm; for vertical installation, the spacing shall not exceed 3,600 mm. 2. When installing supports vertically, holes shall be drilled in the side panels of the cable tray, and the supports shall be securely fastened with M6–M8 bolts.

  Installation Methods for Busbar Trunks

  1. Busbar trunking For horizontal installation, the distance between two supports shall not exceed 2,500 mm; for vertical installation, the distance shall not exceed 3,600 mm.

  2. When installing the bracket vertically, drill holes in the channel side panels and secure it with M6–M8 bolts.

  3. During installation and construction, priority should be given to the construction sequence from the power supply system and main busbar trunking to the branch trunking.

  4. Closure Busbar trunking The basic installation sequence is as follows: select the wiring direction → secure the mounting bracket → fasten the slot holes with four bolts → install busbar connecting plates and insulating washers between phases → insert single-ended bolts through insulating sleeves → thread the bolts through the pre-drilled holes in the busbar → tighten both ends → install the upper and lower cover plates → secure the busway to the mounting bracket.

  5. During the installation of the busbar trunking system, the start, intermediate, and end sections, as well as the trunking enclosure, shall be reliably connected to the grounding grid of the electrical equipment. For trunking enclosures coated with insulating materials, a flat copper strap or yellow-green cable shall be used to connect the grounding bolts between adjacent sections, ensuring that the entire trunking system is electrically bonded and forms a unified grounding system.

  6. Upon completion of the installation works and prior to energization, use a vibration meter to test the insulation resistance between phases and between each phase and ground for the busbar channels: ① For low-voltage busbar channels, the insulation resistance shall be not less than 20 MΩ; ② For 6–10 kV high-voltage busbar channels, the insulation resistance shall be not less than 1,200 MΩ; for 35 kV busbar channels, the insulation resistance shall be not less than 3,000 MΩ.

  7. Prior to energization, the 6–35 kV busbar channels shall undergo 50 Hz power-frequency withstand voltage tests and DC leakage current tests; only after passing these tests may they be put into operation.

  8. Upon commissioning of the busbar trunking system, tighten the busbar joint bolts and inspect the contact condition of the busbar joints within 3 months.

  9. At least once a year, inspect the following items of the busbar trunking system in operation:

  1) Tighten all fixing bolts, with particular attention to busbar joints; inspect the joints for poor contact or burnout caused by overcurrent, and take corrective action as necessary.

  2) Shake the megohmmeter to test the insulation resistance and check whether the insulating materials have aged;

  3) Connection between the busbar channel and the grounding grid;

  4) Pay attention to the internal and external absorption of dust and condensation;

Zhenjiang Ximenzi Conducts EHS Professional Knowledge and Internal Trainer Training

On December 12, Zhenjiang Siemens invited a professional instructor from Shanghai Qian’an Environmental Protection Company to deliver EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) expertise training and internal trainer development sessions. More than 20 participants, including heads and supervisors of the Production Department, equipment administrators, and selected frontline employees, attended the training. The curriculum covered mechanical safety safeguards, hazard identification, and risk assessment, with an introduction to practical tools such as energy control and lockout/tagout procedures. During the session, the instructor enhanced trainees’ understanding of how unsafe behaviors lead to accidents by showing short animated videos on behavioral safety. This training marked the first phase of the company’s EHS program; going forward, Zhenjiang Siemens will implement a comprehensive EHS training plan as scheduled to further elevate the company’s EHS management standards.
